The effective use of technology in the classroom or in the business world starts with reliable hardware, software and technical services. If your end-users are constantly fighting computer problems they become discouraged and disillusioned. Many will resist efforts to use technology because of a bad past experience. This can be overcome with the right foundation of planning, implementation and service. This is where QNS steps in. We have years of experience designing and implementing reliable technology solutions. We will give you an honest assessment of your equipment, network, and support services. Our consultants and engineers will then tailor a custom solution to meet your unique needs while being mindful of your budgetary constraints.
Hardware Solutions
Successful integration of technology starts with making good decision about the hardware you purchase. QNS understands this. We are an authorized reseller with Dell computers and have a limited number of relationships with other distributors as well. Our close vendor relationships make it possible for our customers to purchase the very best at the lowest price. Our cumulative buying power allows us to negotiate the best prices on behalf of our customers.

Network Management
One of the most often overlooked and misunderstood areas of technology is the network. The network is a system of wires, patch panels, switches, hubs, routers, and wireless access points that give your computers connectivity to the Internet or to your local servers. In many cases, a poorly designed network will not be evident. Accessing the Internet or email while connected to a T1 line can be fast even on a poor network. The speed of a T1 line is at most 1.44 Meg, and the speed of even the slowest networks should be around 10 Meg.
However, the problem does become evident when you purchase the latest software, and install it on your servers and computers. The software promises to do all these great things for your staff, but after deploying the program on all the workstations and training your staff to use it, the network starts to crawl. You spend hours, days and weeks troubleshooting the problems with the software company and with few exceptions the problems still exist. The first solution offered by your support staff seems plausible. Replace the computers with new machines, after all when only a couple secretaries are accessing the program (on newer computers) there doesn't seem to be any problems. So, you replace the old computers with new ones and expect everything to be well. Your optimism turns to frustration within a few days. The new machines have not made a significant difference. Many users still complain about getting locked up and having to reboot their computers to get back in.
Does this sound familiar? It should. This is what happens when new software solutions are deployed on inadequate networks and servers. Before we started consulting with them, one of our school districts had purchased and installed the latest version of STI (a student management program). The plan was for everyone to start using the software in the new school year. Soon after everyone started working with the software on a daily basis, problems with freezing, lock-ups and slowness were reported. Prior to the start of school, we had identified concerns with the network but limited resources made it impossible to fix. The school year went on with a lot of frustration over the software. The following summer, funds were available to fix, rather than patch, the entire network. As a result, the software's performance is meeting expectations.
QNS can provide your organization with a professional assessment of your network. We offer network design, implementation and management services to insure your network will meet the challenges of the present and the future. Our solutions are customized to meet your needs as well as your budgets.
Onsite Support
Our staff of professionals provides onsite support on a scheduled basis as well as on an as needed basis. We solve most day to day software problems remotely and resolve hardware issues during our onsite time. When a mission critical need arises, the problem receives immediate attention, and a technician is dispatched onsite if needed. While onsite our staff focuses on solving problems quickly with little disruption to your staff. In addition, QNS provides the onsite service at no additional cost to our customers.
Remote Support
One of the keys to our successful technical support services is our custom communications and remote access solutions. We developed an online service request system that enables our customers to notify us of problems by double-clicking an icon and typing a simple message. The application collects information from the computer's registry to facilitate problem solving. Once the request is submitted, a QNS office technician will quickly resolve the issue or assign it to the primary onsite technician. During this process, notifications are sent to the end-user letting them know the status of their request. In addition, customers may access the online request database to view current issues as well as past issues.
Since the inception of this program, we have resolved around 75% of all service issues within 24 hours and almost 90% within 48 hours.

In the 9 years that I have been Superintendent at Linn County R-I, the service that we receive from QNS is some of the best money that we have spent. Prior to meeting Mel Workman and his staff we were constantly looking for solution to our networking and computers issues. Now all of that is solved with a click of your mouse and typing a short message, and this can be done by anyone with internet access in the building. I have never been more pleased with any vendor in the 23 years I have been in the field of...
